time for sushi

As we had been a bit busy with our visitors, I was just going to share this short film by David Lewandowski, but it prompted a few more words.

While the video is a bit nonsense and even weird, I have watched it quite a few times trying to identify the places where it is shot.

How much do you recognise of the city you live in?

Late last year I had the chance to watch a much waited anime called Your name on a flight (that’s where I can watch the latest releases). I was interested in the story but soon became obsessed with identifying the places it happens. And all because in an early scene the building where I live shows up, and we have moved to Tokyo recently, so being able to recognize a part of this city got me very happy. From then onwards, I even paused the film (it was a long haul flight) to try and identify the places.

I cannot explain with words, but there is something comforting about it, gives a bit of a sense of belonging. I recognize the streets, not just the landmarks.

Unfortunately, with this short film above I still have many places to identify, although I can tell you it is definitely Japan.
